LA-based Riot Society has slapped shitty fast-fashion "brand", Fashion Nova, with a lawsuit for ripping off one of their best-selling designs, "Panda Rose".
Knockoffs are everywhere in fashion and not even close to being something new to the industry today. Very often we see huge corporate dickriders feed on smaller brands, letting the small guys bust their ass through the creative process then biting their best stuff. True douchebaggery indeed.
Unfortunately it's one of the things that everyone in fashion knows could happen to them at some point. Even worse is that many of these aspiring creatives aren't able to do much when it happens due to the resources it would require to fight this battle. Corporations often can bleed young brands dry if they were to try to stand up for themselves.
Riot Society, after sending a cease and desist last June, has now sued Fashion Nova over the pretty blatant shitty ripoff of their popular "Panda Rose" design. Riot Society has been pumping out these hot cakes for a long while now and for as big as Fashion Nova has gotten, I'm sure they're not surprised Riot Society found out and did something about their undercutting and blatant copying. Good for Riot and not letting these dickbags off the hook.
