By all accounts from Friday night’s party for the Grand Opening of the new Generation Cool store in Las Vegas, it seems like this truly is Slobby’s World.
Headlining the event was Grammy-nominated Hip-Hop Icon Slick Rick, there were DJ sets by Humphouse and Robert Hall aka Slobby Robby himself.
If you have been sleeping under a rock, the OG Generation Cool location is a Tuscon, AZ based boutique that opened in 2013. The store specializes in '90s apparel and pop culture memorabilia in the very hot secondary market. Slobby’s World made its debut last year as a 22-mini episode series on the Go90 Network, which is now kaput. Netflix as an 11-part series later picked up the show. Most folks I talk to binged all 11 episodes in a day. It’s fascinating finding out the asking prices for all the stuff we donated to Goodwill over the years. Slobby’s World has created an unbelievable subculture in the resale market. Just take a look around your local swapmeet or flea market and you’ll see the impact the show has made.
The Las Vegas Generation Cool store which shares real estate with the homies at Still Movin' had its Grand Opening Saturday March 30th at noon. The location is 3540 W Sahara. Be there or be nowhere. Long live the 90s.
