It seems like we see a D3 drop almost daily, but this reboot of the D3 OG White/Red/Grey, just made our day.
Born in 1996, Osiris is a skateboard clothing brand founded in California by skateboarders Tony Magnusson, Brian Reid, Tony Chen and Doug Weston. Osiris Shoes became a leader in performance skateboarding shoes and has evolved into a global action sports brand. Osiris product line has expanded to include men’s, women’s and kids’ skateboarding and lifestyle footwear, apparel, accessories and more.
Most people that rocked the D3 back in the day know the history and the controversy over who really designed it. The story has been told over and over, so without rehashing the A$AP Rocky and Dave Mayhew beef, Brian Reid aka @og_R3ID cleared the air in a recent interview with LacednLit.“To make a long story short, the D3 was designed while I was in Pusan, Korea with Tony Magnusson. I led the design and was mainly responsible for its upper, and Magnusson was mostly responsible for the outsole. That’s the real on the D3.”
The D3 is a hallmark of Osiris’ imagination and creativity and was early proof of the brand’s ability to create and drive trends in the wider footwear market. Now that you know the backstory, let’s take a look at the kicks. This OG White/Red/Grey iteration of the D3, might just be our favorite colorway of all time.
