We feature an old favorite, Simple Shoes, the iconic footwear and apparel brand out of Southern California.
Simple Shoes aka Simple is a footwear brand created in 1991 by California native and entrepreneur Eric Meyer. Interesting back story behind this iconic name is that in order to obtain startup capital for the company, Eric had to sell his vintage Volkswagen collection. Following this heart-breaking, sink or swim move, Eric built Simple as a reaction to the excessive design and overproduced marketing that was being produced at the time. His dream was to build a brand that mixed the influences of surfing, skating and art, in an honest, organic manner, without the hype. Fast forward to today, although the brand has changed hands a couple times, it’s now co-owned by the Hurley family and Denis Ryan, a savvy, design-focused shoe industry veteran and the vision remains the same. Simple is still dedicated to providing clean, stylish products that are responsibly manufactured with recycled materials. In fact, Simple was a pioneer in sustainable manufacturing and is known for being one of the first to use green sustainable material. Respect!

One of our all time favs, the Simple S1 Suede is constructed from premium suede and full of considered details like the contrast grosgrain back panel, an algae-based cushy insole and recycled laces. Btw, grosgrain is a firm, close-woven, fine-corded fabric in case you didn’t know, now you do.
