ASICS pays tribute to their classic styling of the 80s with this new iteration of their classic high-tops, the Japan L.
ASICS is a Japanese owned brand that was actually founded way back in 1949. Since then the ASICS Group has been committed to nurturing the world’s youth through sports in order to contribute to society. The company’s vision is to “Create Quality Lifestyle through Intelligent Sport Technology” and their mission is to provide goods and services that promote healthy and fulfilling lifestyles throughout the world. ASICS SportStyle is a division of the brand that fuses together heritage and modern designs in surprising and unexpected ways. This is streetwear that’s designed to speak to your soul.
Paying tribute to sneakers past, these Japan L High-Top sneakers are based on one of ASICS’ throwback offerings from 1981. This reworked iteration is formed with a mid-top silhouette that’s complete with a court-inspired toe box and throwback black/white colorways. Updated with a lightweight design that features a modified cupsole, this shoe is enhanced with excellent comfort and long-lasting cushioning. Mimicking the aesthetic of a retro basketball sneaker, this heritage style is also paired with nostalgic ASICS branding, like the tiger stripes on the quarter-panels and “ASICS” lettering at the heel. The Japan L shoe’s vintage basketball aesthetic is complemented with iconic court-specific details that are inspired by footwear worn on the hardwood by basketball players back in the day.
