Some brands talk the talk and others walk the walk. The Brubaker brothers have decided to walk tall for Black America.
In a quest to build a less corporate more independent footwear brand, Clearweather was started by Brandon and Josh Brubaker. As a shoe designer in the early 90’s designing some of the most iconic pro model skate shoes of the era, Brandon was a huge influence on his brother Josh motivating the latter to begin drawing shoes since grade school. Today, many of the truly unique shoes in skateboarding and other outdoor passions have been influenced by these two and now they’re working together to bring their best ideas forward sans the corporate red tape. In our not so humble opinion the combined efforts from these siblings have resulted in some of the illest recent footwear builds to date.
A special message from Brandon and Josh Brubaker:
“Otosan means father in the Japanese language. As Fathers, we have a huge responsibility to teach the next generation that Hate, Oppression, and Civil Injustice are wrong. Change must come now. At Clearweather we understand that we have a civic duty in order to oppose hundreds of years of systemic oppression that affect our friends, family, and customers. This is just the first step in a major revolution in the United States. Clearweather will continue to support Black Americans and other minorities through continued awareness and initiatives.
This week we will be giving 100% of the profits from three colorways of the Otosan to Equal Justice Initiative (EJI). EJI is a private, nonprofit organization that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons. We challenge the death penalty and excessive punishment and we provide re-entry assistance to formerly incarcerated people. You can find more information about EJI at EJI.org/.”
On behalf of our team here at LacednLit.com, we’re behind the initiative and support this cause to the fullest. We walk with our Black Brothers and Sisters every step of the way taking strides towards a better world. Much love and respect!
