Waka Flocka Flame Teams Up with Streetwear Brand DRO

Streetwear brand DRO just announced their new partnership with Hip Hop and entertainment mogul Waka Flocka Flame. Scroll for more.

Waka Flocka Flame also known by his government name as Juaquin James Malphurs was born in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens in New York City. The Atlanta-based Hip hop artist has many hits on his resume including his first album Flockaveli which went as high as #6 on the Billboard Top 200. Something you may not know about Waka Flocka Flame is how he got his name. According to his cousin, Waka came from Fozzie Bear of the Muppets and Flocka Flame was given to him by his close friend and associate Gucci Mane.

DRO is a streetwear brand who designs bespoke garments for drug smugglers, rap artists and dimes. Their brand aesthetics are influenced by hip-hop and street culture which compliment Waka Flocka’s music style and personal brand. Originated in the streets of Los Angeles in 2012. The company handcrafted their first garments in a work/live loft on the corner of 5th and Broadway in DTLA. For those who know the area, it’s where the LAPD and LA County Sheriff jurisdictional lines meet, and neither of them appreciate the corner hustle. Since then the brand has been designing, cutting and sewing bespoke garments for drug smugglers, rap artists and dimes. Welcome to Camp 5th & Broadway. Elevation: 250 above sea level. This is DRO.

This new ownership agreement is designed to grow the brand’s offline/online presence including the alignment of future industry business partnerships with DRO. The first collection from this collaborative effort is set to become available sometime in February 2020. Customers can access these exclusive items online at thedrop.com and other exclusive online retailers. “I truly believe in this company, the team, and expertise behind DRO and together we are going to make this the next biggest lifestyle brand in the world” – Waka Flocka
